Book Updates
Lots of news here already, folks.
Let's start from the top and get right into the details.
Although I've been slaving away at the 5 Rings Books fo several months now, we're still about 6 weeks away from sending them to the publishers. We keep refining the content to make it easier and more impactful which is what is causing the delay- basically we'e trying to make sure the books have as much value for you as possible, and that degree of near-perfectionism is having an impact both in creating a better product and in delaying the release of the books.
On the good news side of the ledger we recently hired a new Virtual Assistant to do a bunch of things for us, including research, which has produced extraordinary results and has us on pace to finish a completely different book altogether in the next ten days or so. This book is going to be HUGELY valuable to anyone in marketing anywhere in the world as for the first time it really outlines more than 200 of the world's top niche social media sites, and tells you specifically why, when, and how to use them to get better impact from your social media efforts.
I had planned to do the niche social book at some point, but the research time involved was going to make it a back burner topic for a later date... until my new hire came along and made it lightning quick. Now we have the ability to get at all of those other books that have been getting delayed due to the perceived lack of research time, so we'll definitely be doing a lot of additional titles this year that I hadn't planned on getting to until next year or even the year after.
And the BEST part of this is that it isn't taking any of my time away from my commitments to the 5 Rings books or The Wish- those are all still moving forward too!
2013 is definitely a busy year!
Site Redesign Update
So as you know if you have listened to our radio shows or seen our update sin social media, we've been stunned by the climbing rate of viewers of our sites over the last 8 months.
It hasn't been a slow, gentle climb- it has been from about 250 visitors a month to over 14,000 visitors a month and climbing. Now, obviously, we're grateful for the attention and will do everything we can to make your visits here more interesting and valuable for you, but honestly our site was not originally designed to be for mass consumption. It really was built to be a brochure site - something we could point to so that you could get moe infomation about specific topics in a bief and condesned way, just like you'd get from a traditional brochure.
Even more startlingly we found out that about 40% of our visitors came to us through mobile devices, and the number of Chrome users looking at our site was almost zero- almost everyone was using Firefox or Dolphin making up more than 98% of all viewer traffic and Internet Explorer and Chrome coming in a very distant, almost non-existent 0.65% between the two.
That's enough to spark a MAJOR initiative with us to completely redesign all of our digital media sites including websites, social media accounts, blogs, and more.
We've spent the last few weeks working on designing ou new digital identities and building our project plans for our digital make-overs and are hard at work building in features and content we think will make a dramatic improvement both in the user experience and in the core function of the sites.
Included in our redesign efforts is our stategy for enhanced filtering tools for web traffic so that we deliver quality content and convenience to our visitors that matches the degee of interest they have in our product and service lines without being that company that oversells our customers with unnecessary automated junk.
There is a lot of wok going on here to make these sites not just bette, but 'State of The Art' better, including impoving our e-commerce tools and strategy.
Stay tuned- there is a LOT of news coming as a direct result of this massive undertaking.

A funny Thing Happened On My Way Out of The Office...
Well, did we ever get a shock and a surprise this past week!
To explain from the beginning, it helps to know that we pay a LOT of attention to our clients' websites, conversion rates, traffic sources, and so on, but we have honestly spent ZERO time or effort checking our own sites' statistics in the belief that as a brochure site we'd be lucky to get 200-250 views a month, most of which would be from us forwarding a specific link to someone who had asked for it.
Last Friday did we ever get a WAKE UP call!
We checked our stats and discovered we were getting a shocking 6776 page views a month over the last month alone and more in previous months! And we were not even trying to drive traffic there much at all! We even had an unheard-of bounce rate of only 1%!!!

We thought about it and checked into other stats and discovered that most of our traffic was being seen through a Firefox browser, and we had an unexpected 40% of our traffic was from mobile sources. Us! The competitive intelligence people have traffic, and gobs of it! Who knew???
That was jaw-dropping news for us, and led to some major new decisions as a result. See, I've often argued with my clients that if you are getting a few thousands views a month, then you should really start paying attention to things like how your site is converting that traffic into actionable sales leads, and for most of my clients the corollary point is also then true; if your site is not getting a few thousand page views each month then you need to start seriously looking at why not, and fixing that problem.
But our sites were always the exception... because we didn't think anyone was looking at them except people we specifically referred there!
So now the tables are clearly turned and we're the ones who will have to make our websites into showcase sites with all the bells and whistles on it so that all that traffic stops going to waste. We have spent most of Friday night, and the rest of the weekend designing and redesigning how the Reyactive site and each of our other branded sites, social media accounts, blog sites, and other sites should be overhauled, and the process is still on-going because this is going to be a major job to get done and get done right.
But it really does beg a different question, doesn't it? How much attention are YOU really paying to YOUR web and social media sites? Are you getting the amount of business out of them that you should?

We've had lots and lots of news at reyactive over the past few months:
Most importantly, on October 19th, Chris Cayer and his wife Tracey were blessed with a brand new baby girl, their first child. Mom and baby are both happy, healthy, and the family is doing well.
The end of September also saw the release of Lon Safko's latest book, 'The Fusion Marketing Bible,' in which Chris had made a contribution as well, talking about the role of social media analytics in modern marketing activities.
And just last week, Chris announced the coming release of three new books on his proprietary new concept, The 5 Rings of Multipliers. Chris has been teaching this in private classes for years, but has finally taken that concept and formatted it in ways that can be easily learned and implemented by anyone. The books are being finished over the holidays and presales activities are starting in time for Black Friday, with a release date for each of the books in January/February of 2013. There will be both ebook and softcover versions available of each book, and new webinars, coaching programs and full day courses are being scheduled and offered already as demand has already begun for these courses and programs.
It's been a busy few months at Reyactive - stay tuned for more!

The past few weeks have seen the birth of a powerful new video series that is having an impact on social media experts and the companies they work for all over the world. Social Revelations is a 6 part Mega Series of The Morning Charge, and shows you what is really happening in social media as opposed to the massive number of myths out there that are driving over 75% of CMOs to make the wrong decisions about how to best use their social media budgets!
This week we have had a series of issues getting the next episode aired (Episode 5), but we can now confirm it went live on Thursday, 23rd August 2012, and it really emphasizes how social media is both extremely localized and extremely globalized by showing how it impacts everything from Daily Deal sites' effectiveness to GeoTargeted Marketing initiatives, to the next revolution in Search marketing technologies. We will also show how it impacts national and international campaigns including the power of socialization on growth of potential scams as much as viral success stories.
Stay tuned for an exciting and powerful episode on Monday!
